Food supply drive set for Oct. 12-13
By David Richards
John Marshall High School students are organizing a food and supply drive for veterans' families this month.
Proceeds will go to the Fisher House in Minneapolis, a temporary housing facility for the families of veterans while the patients are being treated at the Veterans Affairs Hospital.
Drop spots for the food and supply drive include Byron Market Place and at Wal Mart both north and south.
The drives will be held on Friday, Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 13 all day.
Organizers said cash donations are always appreciated, while canned foods and coffee, boxed foods, all paper products, cleaning and laundry supplies and personal care products (individually wrapped toothbrushes, bar of soap, etc...) are needed as well.
"For our young people to take on a project to support our veterans and their families is a great story," said Gary Gullickson, Marine Corps Vietnam veteran. "They need our support."
