Mussel Mania--What Native Mussels (Clams) Tell Us About the Health of the Zumbro
Talk on Thursday, Dec. 13
If you want to know if your river is getting cleaner, then you want to keep an eye on your clams. As filter feeders, clams tell us a lot about river health, fish health, and the future of your local river. Find out how native mussels are faring in the Zumbro River with DNR Mussel Researcher Nicole Ward. Ward will talk about what clams are native to the Zumbro Watershed, how our mussel populations are doing, and what that tells us about the health of the Zumbro. Hear her talk on Thursday, Dec. 13, 6:30 p.m., at the Cascade Meadow Wetlands and Environmental Science Center, 2900--19th St. NW, Rochester, MN, 55901.
This program is part of the Zumbro Watershed Partnership's monthly "Water Ways" Speaker Series, the second Thursday of each month. For more information about this and other ZWP Projects, contact Kevin Strauss, ZWP Education Coordinator at 507-993-3411 or by email at "email@example.com".
